Personal development
We are committed to the career development of our staff. By improving their skills, we can provide an even better service for our clients.
We encourage employees to work in different roles within the company to broaden and develop their skills on the job. People who started as advisors have gone on to different roles, such as operations managers, learning and development advisors, business development analysts, and communications officers. Similarly, administrators have become advisors and HR officers.
We offer appropriate job-related training that develops people’s knowledge and skills and helps us continuously to enhance the quality of our services. Examples of job-related training for advisors include: Brief Solution Focused Therapy, which provides techniques for shifting negative behaviours and focusing on solutions; Facilitation Skills, which outlines how to develop an idea into a successful workshop; and GROW, which uses a model to frame the exploration and practice of questioning techniques.
Employees with an aptitude for and interest in moving towards management can join our Management Skills Development Programme. The modular programme has a mixture of workshop-based, manager-supported, self-directed and web-based learning.
Our managers follow a Leadership and Management Programme, which focuses on key aspects of managing and leading people including developing people, motivating people and developing interview skills.
Each year staff provide managers with 360 degree feedback on their performance. This is a highly valued form of feedback, as it provides a rounded perspective and highlights both strengths and areas for development.
Ingeus employees can take two Personal Development Days a year - in addition to their 25 days' annual leave - for Community Volunteering, and up to three additional days for Study Leave. This is designed to ensure that all employees have access to a variety of opportunities to gain ongoing personal and professional development.
As part of the Community Volunteering drive, Ingeus has made volunteering easy by developing relationships with two national charities, Mosaic and Growing Ambitions, providing Ingeus staff with the opportunity to work with young people in schools and colleges, making a great difference to their future.
